AI Notice

1. In short

  • KollegPass uses artificial intelligence (AI) for the AI tutor, for AI feedback on writing tasks, to create exercises and for the voices in the listening exercises.
  • When you write to the AI tutor, an AI answers you – not a human.
  • AI can make mistakes. Always check important information with the responsible institution.
  • Do not enter sensitive data or data about other people.

2. Where we use AI

3. How the AI tutor works

  • The AI tutor uses the AI model Claude by Anthropic. Our server sends your question to Anthropic. We show you the answer with the "AI" label.
  • We have set up the tutor to help you prepare for Studienkolleg tests. It declines questions unrelated to learning and harmful requests.
  • If you ask the tutor whether it is an AI, it tells you.
  • Depending on your plan, there are limits on how many messages you can write. You can see the current limits in the app.
  • We store your conversations for. You can delete them yourself earlier.

4. How AI feedback works

  • You send a short text for a writing task ().
  • The AI checks it against fixed criteria, for example task completion, structure, grammar and vocabulary. You get notes on mistakes, suggestions for improvement and an estimated score.
  • The feedback is not an official assessment. In real tests, people grade according to their own criteria. The score is only a guide.
  • AI feedback does not count for leaderboards.

5. Limits of AI

  • AI can be wrong, invent facts or misjudge your text – even when the answer sounds very confident.
  • The AI can give different answers to the same question.
  • The AI's knowledge can be out of date. Always check dates, rules and requirements on the website of the Studienkolleg, the university or uni-assist.
  • The AI is not a teacher. It does not give legal, visa or health advice.
  • If you find a mistake, please report it with "Report a problem".

6. What data is processed

  • Sent to Anthropic: your message or text, the task and necessary context (for example language, course type and level). Also a pseudonymous ID so that misuse can be detected. We do not pass on your name or e-mail address.
  • Anthropic (Anthropic, PBC, USA) processes the data only on our behalf. Anthropic may not use it to train AI models and deletes it within 30 days. If Anthropic's systems detect a possible breach of its usage policies, Anthropic may keep the data for up to 2 years and safety classification scores for up to 7 years.
  • Please do not enter: health data, information about religion, political opinions or sexual orientation, ID card or passport numbers, passwords or data about other people.

7. Safety and protection of young people

You may use KollegPass from age 16. That is why the AI features have additional safety measures:

  • system instructions designed to prevent harmful and inappropriate content,
  • filters for inputs and answers,
  • usage limits and misuse detection,
  • a function to report problematic answers.

The AI is not crisis counselling. If you are not feeling well, turn to people you trust, a crisis service or your local emergency number.

8. Labelling

  • Before you first use it, we show you a notice that you are talking to an AI.
  • Every AI answer carries the "AI" label.
  • AI answers are also marked as AI-generated in a machine-readable way.

9. Synthetic voices

  • The voices in the listening exercises are generated with AI (provider: ElevenLabs). They are synthetic voices. They are not meant to imitate real people.
  • The people and situations in the listening texts are made up.
  • The audio files are created in advance. No data about you is processed for this.
  • Synthetic pronunciation can differ slightly from natural speech. In real tests you usually hear real speakers.

10. Exercises created with AI

  • All exercises, texts and explanations are our own content. They are created with AI and checked with AI.
  • Despite the checks, mistakes can happen. Please report them to us.
  • They are not real exam tasks of any Studienkolleg.

11. No decisions by AI

The AI does not decide on admissions, leaderboard scores or suspensions. A human makes fair-play decisions. We do not use AI to supervise tests, no camera and no emotion recognition – not in stress mode either.
